The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has confirmed that it is striking targets in Lebanon “to degrade Hezbollah’s terrorist capabilities and infrastructure.”
In a post on X, the IDF said Hezbollah “armed civilian homes, dug tunnels beneath them and used civilians as human shields — turning southern Lebanon into a war zone.”
“The IDF is operating to bring security to northern Israel in order to allow residents to return to their homes and achieve war objectives,” the military wrote.
The Israeli military has struck Hezbollah on other occasions in recent months.
However, Thursday’s offensive (19) comes after the top commander of the Israel Defense Forces concluded “the approval of plans for the north” and a day after the Israeli Defense Minister pointed out that a “new era” in the country’s war effort is beginning.
