Israeli strike kills three in southern Lebanon, health ministry says

Three people were killed during Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon according to a statement from the country’s Ministry of Health.

The full extent of the damage after a massive exchange of fire between Israel and the Hezbollah The death toll has not yet been counted, but two people were killed in the village of At Tiri in Nabatiyeh and another was killed after an Israeli strike targeted a car in the town of Khiyam, the ministry said.

The Amal Movement, a Shiite group allied with Hezbollah, said in a statement that one of its fighters was killed “while carrying out his national and jihad duty in defense of Lebanon and the south.”

The Israeli military said about 100 of its fighter jets “hit and destroyed thousands of Hezbollah rocket launchers intended for immediate fire toward northern and central Israel.”

“More than 40 launch sites were hit in Lebanon during the strikes,” the Israeli military said. Hezbollah has yet to comment on the claim.

Hezbollah, for its part, said it struck 11 Israeli military sites, fired more than 320 rockets and sent drones into northern Israel during the assault.
