Israel intensified its military operations against Iran, launching a second wave of attacks that hit targets in southern Iranian territory and Syria, according to Israeli press reports.
The escalation of the conflict was revealed by professor Sandro Teixeira Moita, specialist in Military Sciences at the Army Command and General Staff School (Eceme), during his participation in the program WW this Friday (25).
According to Moita, the attacks are still ongoing, with new targets being reported in the last few hours.
“We are seeing that the attacks continue. Now it seems that, half an hour ago, the Israeli press started publishing that a second wave of attacks on southern Iran and also some targets in Syria had been launched,” said the expert.
Focus on military installations
The professor highlighted that, so far, the reported targets are linked to Iran’s military capabilities, especially the Revolutionary Guard’s missile facilities.
This approach suggests a calculated strategy on Israel’s part, avoiding attacks on Iranian nuclear or oil facilities.
Moita interpreted this decision as an “American victory” in containing the Israeli impulse to attack the most sensitive installations of the Iranian nuclear program.
“It is a victory in a certain way for the Americans to have contained Israel in its desire to attack some Iranian facilities in the nuclear program and the energy issue,” he explained.
Escalation of conflict
The expert warned of the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Iran, describing recent actions as “a bold escalation on the part of Israel”.
He recalled that this situation is part of a “shadow war” that the two countries have been fighting for decades and which is now becoming more open and clear.
Moita also mentioned the statement by Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, who had promised a counterattack to any Israeli offensive.
“We are really entering a moment of unknown in the region, unfortunately”, concluded the professor, expressing concern about the uncertain future of the situation in the Middle East.
