Istanbul: The advertisement in the subway with the “Greek God” that angered some

The ad for his new popular game PlaystationGod of War Ragnarök, with the Greek God Kratos in Constantinople, enraged some in Turkey. In fact, the president of the Confederation of the National Survival Movement, Murat Sahin, set his sights on the mayor of the city, Ekrem Imamoglou.

“There are claims that Ekrem Imamoglu has photos of the so-called Greek god Kratos in the subway! Oh LORD, save Istanbul,” Murat Sahin wrote on Twitter.

However, users of the social media responded to his criticisms. “It’s just an advertisement for a very successful game,” one commented.

Others recalled that something similar had happened in 2009 when the third game in the series had been released and there had been no reactions.

Others pointed out to him that there had been Japanese video game adverts in Berlin, with one commenting mockingly: ‘Have the Japanese taken over Europe?’

After the backlash, Sahin tried to justify himself, writing: “Your mind is not enough to understand what I wanted to say. I wanted young people to understand that Imamoglou loves Greece.”
