It became known why Renault does not leave Russia: the company is afraid of the nationalization of AvtoVAZ
Renault, which owns a controlling stake in AvtoVAZ, is one step away from leaving Russia. Analyst forecasts

According to Automotive News Europe, Renault, which continues to work in Russia, has good reasons for this. The company is concerned about the high cost of exiting a venture with a local partner.

The French manufacturer wants to avoid the nationalization of its Russian assets, which are valued at billions of dollars. The French automaker owns a 68% stake in AvtoVAZ and an automobile plant in Moscow. Last year, the concern sold cars in Russia for 5.5 billion dollars.

At the moment, both the Moscow enterprise Renault and the AvtoVAZ plants have been stopped. Against the backdrop of sanctions, the supply of foreign components for car assembly has stopped, and without them, only two models can be produced – Lada Niva Legend and Niva Travel. They plan to start collecting this week.

According to the source, Renault continues to monitor the situation. Renault has become the only major global automaker that has not abandoned either trade with Russia or production at local factories. Stellantis last week suspended the import and export of cars from the country. Earlier, Volkswagen Group, Toyota Motor, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and other companies left Russia.

As it became known, automobile companies were offered three scenarios for working in Russia. One of them involves a complete exit from the Russian market, the closure of enterprises and the dismissal of employees, but this option will be considered as a deliberate bankruptcy.
