Rumors that Qualcomm is preparing the flagship Snapdragon 888 Plus platform have been fully confirmed. The company officially announced this single-chip system today. As it turned out, it has two differences from the Snapdragon 888.

The first concerns the frequency of the “super core” Cortex-X1 – it has increased from 2.84 to 2.995 GHz (Qualcomm rounds the frequency to 3.0 GHz). The second is the increased performance of the Qualcomm AI Engine, which is responsible for accelerating AI tasks: if in Snapdragon 888 its performance is 26 TOPS (trillions of operations per second), then in Snapdragon 888 Pro it is 32 TOPS.

Everything else matches Snapdragon 888: Snapdragon 888 Plus is still a 5nm SoC with Adreno 660 GPU, Spectra 580 DSP, Snapdragon X60 5G modem, FastConnect 6900 communication module, support for Quick Charge 5 fast charging technology. Snapdragon 888 Plus will go on sale in the second half of the year. Such smartphones are already being prepared by Asus, Honor, Motorola, Vivo and Xiaomi.
