German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz ruled today “obvious that there will be no meeting” in the near future among Ukraine Presidents Volodimir Zelenski and Russia Vladimir Putin, as the US president hoped to find a solution. “It is obvious that there will be no meeting (…) as opposed to what was agreed between President Trump and President Putin,” the Chancellor said, with French President Emmanuel Macron at his side. The French president welcomed Mertz for a work dinner in the Bregson fortress in southern France, where they made a statement to reporters before starting their conversations. Mertz said that bilateral issues, such as the economic cooperation of the two countries, but also international, such as the situation in Ukraine and the reduction of bureaucracy in Europe, would be discussed.
