The former governor of Rio Grande do Sul and coordinator of the government plan of senator and pre-candidate Simone Tebet (MDB), Germano Rigotto (MDB), commented on the formation of the alliance with the Social Party of Brazilian Democracy (PSDB), confirmed on Thursday (9). In an interview with CNN Rigotto said he faced the campaign with optimism.
One of the key points of the alliance is the nomination of the candidate for vice president, which will be made by the PSDB. According to Rigotto, “it is natural that there are noises about the choice of vice president” in the states. The coordinator, however, shows confidence in the party toucan: “it is up to the PSDB to decide on the vice”.
For Rigotto, the positioning of the PSDB — which, like the citizenry, chose to support Tebet’s name as a third way in the 2022 presidential elections — should strengthen the candidate, also because it is attractive to other parties.
“The moment a candidacy appears with the support that Tebet can have, it represents growth. The support of the PSDB and Cidadania could mean other support there”, comments Rigotto.
The coordinator also anticipated that, in the coming days, he should attend a meeting with the former president of the Chamber of Deputies, Rodrigo Maia, who was responsible for coordinating João Doria’s government program (PSDB) as a pre-candidate for the presidency of the Republic. In May of this year, Doria announced her withdrawal from the dispute.
