The Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, said this Wednesday (13) that “it seems to proceed”, when asked if the salary readjustment for federal servants should proceed, upon leaving the Ministry.
Earlier, sources said the government had decided to give all federal employees a 5% raise starting in July. The information was confirmed by the anchor of the CNN Brazil Daniela Lima.
The measure would have an impact of around R$6 billion this year, above the R$1.7 billion forecast for salary readjustments in this year’s budget. For this reason, the economic team is still evaluating how it could make the amount viable by transferring funds planned from other areas of the federal government to the salary adjustment.
According to government advisers, the president has already signaled support for the measure. As the percentage corrects the inflationary gap, the granting of the benefit does not come up against the Electoral Law, which prohibits the benefit in the period of six months before the first round of the presidential race.
