Electric cars are actively conquering the market, and against the background of numerous articles, test drives and reviews, one might think that absolutely all owners of such cars are as happy as possible with their decision to abandon a car with an internal combustion engine.

It turns out that a large number of electric car buyers end up returning to cars with internal combustion engines. At least that's what a poll in California says

However, recent research shows that this is not the case at all. The study authors surveyed a number of California residents who owned or owned an electric vehicle between 2012 and 2018. It turned out that about one in five eventually returned to a car with an internal combustion engine.

The main reason is, of course, the need for charging and the resulting features. For example, 70% of those who eventually abandoned an electric car did not have access to any kind of fast charging and could only charge a car at home or at work from a regular 120 V network, which is too slow.

Interestingly, almost two-thirds of the electric vehicle owners surveyed have never used public charging stations, but unfortunately it is not clear for what reasons.
