With three daily flights between Athens and Rome, and starting today, ITA Airways, the new national air carrier of Italy, launches the summer season in the Greek market.
ITA Airways presented the program of flights to and from Greece for the summer period 2022, at an event in the center of Athens to representatives of the Greek media, as well as to its business partners in the Greek market.
ITA Airways was represented by Pierfrancesco Carino, Vice President of International Sales, Aldo D’Elia, Director of International Sales Development, and the local ITA Airways team. The event was held in collaboration with Athens International Airport. The event was attended by Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director of Communication and Marketing of Athens International Airport.
According to the company’s program, in addition to the daily Athens-Rome connections, there will be direct seasonal flights in August from Rome / Fiumicino and from Milan / Milan Linate to Corfu, Heraklion and Rhodes (from July to September) . Also, in August Kefalonia will be served by Rome / Fiumicino and Thessaloniki by Milan Linate.
With flights available from October 15, 2021, ITA Airways is an efficient and innovative airline that will be a benchmark for providing quality connectivity to Italy with domestic, international and intercontinental destinations, thus enhancing tourism and foreign trade.
In the summer of 2022, the ITA Airways program will also include the most popular Mediterranean destinations with new flights to the Italian islands, including Sardinia served by Rome Fiumicino Airport, as well as Milan Linate flights to Spain and Croatia and seasonal flights in August from Rome / Fiumicino and Milan / Linate to Lampedusa, Pantelleria, Ibiza, Minorca and Mallorca. Also in August, Dubrovnik and Split will be served by Fiumicino in Rome.
By the beginning of June, the ITA Airways program for the US market will also be completed: in addition to flights to New York, Miami and Boston (direct flights from Rome and Milan / Malpensa to New York are already operational) the program includes also the start of the route to Los Angeles, from June 1, with a direct flight from Rome / Fiumicino.
New flights from Rome / Fiumicino to Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo from early June and to Tokyo from August 2 will also be added during the summer.
ITA Airways’s 2022 summer season includes 63 new destinations, of which 22 are domestic, 34 international and 7 intercontinental. Thanks to code-sharing agreements with major international carriers, ITA Airways continues to expand its network through partnerships with other global carriers – providing privileged access to markets of major interest to the company, primarily in Europe and the Americas, as well as in Africa and Saudi Arabia.
Common code agreements give ITA Airways access to the entire domestic network of other international carriers with direct flights from Rome / Fiumicino and Milan / Linate to their hubs. In total, 24 code-sharing agreements have been signed so far, for a total of more than 300 served destinations, in which ITA Airways will use its own codes. Purchases for all ITA Airways flights can be made through ita-airways.com, through the ITA Airways call center or from travel agencies and airport ticket offices.
