Itaca festival in Pavia, two days of meetings and sustainable tourism itineraries

Territories are (also) the stories in which territories tell themselves. What they have been, what they are, what they wish to be. Starting from this principle it develops the IT.A.CÀ festival, the Festival of Responsible Tourismwhich today and tomorrow will stop in Pavia and the Oltrepò Pavese.

There IT.A.CÀ network through this festival, now in its 15th edition, invites you on a unique journey, from the south to the north of Italy, in many different territories, bringing together communities that passionately promote the freedom to migrate and the right to stay.

IT.A.CÀ is the first and only festival in Italy and Europe to deal with responsible tourism and tourist innovation, from a sustainable. To commute incoming in becoming, to combine the sustainability of tourism with the well-being of citizens. And how? Through the story of the territory told by the community itself who lives there, involving participants in discovering places and cultures through walking and cycling itineraries, seminars, workshops, exhibitions and more, to launch an idea of ​​more ethical tourism that respects the environment and those who live there.

IT.A.CÀ festival in Pavia: exhibitions and meetings

Pavia it was a industrial city which is dealing with the long wave of its deindustrialization. It was, and is, home to a Historical University. L’Beyond that it was, and is, land of wines and of agriculture. It was the land of partisan struggles. It is a sum of places that struggle to form a system. The tourist story then becomes the tool to try to break out of these patterns, which sometimes trap, and convey new narratives of these territories, in which the past is not a constraint on the future, but a way to keep up with the present.

After last night’s inauguration, the contemporary art exhibition, Bressana (anti)monumental: telling the story of the provincein the courtyards of the University of Pavia, which aims to tell the story of the Oltrepò Pavese area and to restore the awareness of a historical and cultural identity, with a view to rebalancing actions and resources between the city, province and rural areas.

All weekend at the Ridotto of the Fraschini Theatre the exhibition will be set up Historical posters which, on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the theatre, will display the posters (guided tours are scheduled at 11am on Saturday and Sunday). The protagonists of the festival will also be the university students who at the Pavia Borgo Ticino Angelo Gambini Library will talk about the territory of Borgo Ticino through their voices, their needs and putting forward some proposals to integrate the Rossignoli Park.

Today, Saturday 14 October, from 10 to 11.30 the painting workshop, Postcards from the area with the painter Paola Ricevuti. At 11am accompanied by the curators Luisa Erba, Antonella Campagna and Maria Cristina Regali we will visit the exhibition Sant’Agostino in Pavia. 723-2023 in the university library papersto discover the links between Pavia and Sant’Agostino.

The meeting will be held at 4.30pm conference Journey of a relic of Saint Augustine from Pavia to Hippo in the mid-nineteenth centuryin the Multimedia Hall of the Church of San Pietro in Ciel d’Oro and at 5pm an artistic banquet will be presented followed by a tasting of oil and wine from the Oltrepò Pavese and at the same time a round table will also take place in the area to talk about possible development trajectories.

IT.A.CÀ festival in Pavia: excursions

There are many excursions planned. It starts today at 10 am with aexcursion to Lomello with refreshments on arrival and visit of the village with guide and archaeologist. Also at 10am there is a 2 or 3 hour excursion on the Pavia section of the route Via Francigena. One is scheduled for 3pm guided tour of the Gallarati Scotti Castle, in the heart of Lomellina in the small village of Cozzo and recently restored. From 9am to 5pm you can take part in the excursion The gullies of Bagnaria and the sandstones of Sagliano: in search of the footprints of the predators that coexist in the area (including wild boars and wolves).

Tomorrow, October 15th, the excursion Torrazza Coste will engage participants from 9.30am to 1.30pm, taking them to discover the ravines of Sant’Antonino, the farmhouses and the vineyards in autumn. Another guided excursion, Autumn Impressions at the foot of the mountain, will also start at the same time Penice between myth and nature in the magic of Romagnese and the small villages of Crinale.

Finally, a meeting is scheduled from 3pm to 5.30pm pedal to discover the old mills of the city.
