The contest, which took place between April 22 and June 5, saw the participation of hundreds of photographers, professionals and amateurs, who published their shots on Instagram accompanied by the hashtag # scattailboscoPEFC21.
“The shots received in recent months tell on the one hand a difficult year that was made more bearable by the beauty of the nature that surrounds us, on the other the need for people to live more and more in contact with nature, able to offer unmissable opportunities for moments of recreation and relaxation, never before really indispensable and precious », explains Eleonora Mariano, head of the Projects Office of PEFC Italy.
The winners of the competition were selected by a jury made up of a photographer, a representative of the PEFC Italia Secretariat and a representative of the sponsors of the initiative. One quarter of the total contributed to the final grade: i like obtained from photos on Instagram.
Furthermore, this year PEFC Italia has chosen to tackle the theme of climate change through images, assigning a special mention to the photograph that best represents this theme. The mention was won by Ludovica Nati with a photo taken in Val di Fassa which shows the signs of Vaia still evident on the Catinaccio group. The photographer will have the opportunity to plant 10 trees in Milan in her own name, which in the course of their life will absorb the greenhouse gas emissions generated on average by an Italian citizen over the course of a year.
The competition, which in its history has collected thousands of photos from over 20 countries around the world, aims to remind you that, through the correct management of the forest heritage and the promotion of products deriving from sustainable management, forests can play a key role in protecting the earth and the environment, thanks to the effects that forests themselves have on climate, pollution, soil and water.
