Italy: 27,214 new infections, 127 deaths due to Covid-19

Italy announced today 27,214 new cases of coronavirus, compared to 18,380 yesterday Monday, according to data from the country’s Ministry of Health.

In the last 24 hours, 127 patients lost their lives due to complications of Covid-19. Italy has seen 161,893 deaths since the pandemic began. This is the second worst report in Europe after Britain and the eighth worst in the world. Confirmed cases of Covid-19 total about 15.8 million as of February 2020.

There are currently 10,214 patients with Covid-19 in simple hospital beds (274 more than yesterday Monday). 38 patients were admitted to intensive care units (ICU), one less compared to the previous 24 hours. A total of 422 carriers of the virus are currently being treated in the ICU.

In the last 24 hours, 174,098 coronavirus tests were performed, according to the Italian Ministry of Health.
