Italy reported 93,157 cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, up from 99,522 the previous day, according to the health ministry, while the death toll fell to 375 from 433.
According to Reuters, Italy has recorded 148,542 deaths associated with the coronavirus since the outbreak of the pandemic in February 2020, the second highest rate in Europe after Britain and the ninth highest in the world. The country has reported 11.54 million cases to date.
The number of patients admitted to hospital with COVID-19 – excluding those in the intensive care unit – rose to 18,615 on Saturday, up from 19,000 a day earlier.
There were 104 new admissions to intensive care units, up from 114 on Friday. The total number of patients admitted to intensive care units decreased to 1,411 from 1,440 previously.
About 846,480 coronavirus tests were performed in the last 24 hours, compared to 884,893 the previous day, the health ministry said.
