Italy: Army asks members for ‘full operational readiness’

A circular from the Italian army, signed on March 9, emphasizes the need for “full operational readiness of the various forces, with reference to war conflicts and strict restriction of licenses,” according to the newspaper La Repubblica.

At the same time, the circular states that the effective operation of all weapon systems, helicopters and means of artillery must be confirmed. The text also refers to “developments at the international level” and to “known recent events”.

The Italian Army General Staff, La Repubblica adds, emphasizes that “this is a letter of internal, ordinary use” and that “the priorities of the army forces are being adjusted to the changes in the international situation”.
