The Italian Ministry of Health announced today that due to Covid-19, 51 deaths were recorded today, compared to 59 the previous day, while the total daily number of new infections rose to 6,764 from 5,905 yesterday.
In Italy since the beginning of the pandemic in February last year, 132,334 deaths have been recorded due to Covid-19, a number that ranks it second in Europe in terms of the number of deaths after Britain and ninth in the world. A total of 4.8 million cases have been reported to date.
The number of patients treated with Covid-19, excluding those treated in the intensive care unit, reached 3,124 today, compared to 3,045 yesterday.
Today, 37 patients were admitted to intensive care units, compared to the 36 who were admitted yesterday, while the total number of ICU patients rose today to 395 compared to 383 yesterday.
According to the Ministry of Health, 543,414 tests were performed yesterday, while the day before yesterday 514,629.
