After the health, Rome is considering compulsory vaccination for teachers before the new school year begins. At the same time it gives privileges to vaccinated people.
H Italian The government is already thinking about what to do in September. Opening schools is a priority for Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. It has already become clear that students will return to their classrooms wearing protective masks, but the Ministry of Education insists that this is not the only demand. He believes that teachers and administrative staff should be vaccinated before the start of the new school year.
In the Milan region, for example, those who work in schools will be able to come to the vaccination centers without an appointment from today until July 21st. At the same time, from August 23, children and adolescents aged 12 to 19 will be vaccinated, with a special campaign.
Until now in Italy only vaccination of health workers is mandatory. As far as teachers are concerned, there is still hope that through persuasion the problems can be solved. It is not certain, however, that about 200,000 teachers remain unvaccinated. According to a recent poll, 60% of teachers oppose compulsory vaccination.
Meanwhile, the Draghi government is preparing to adopt, according to leaks, stricter measures for access to public spaces. The relevant decision is expected to be taken on Tuesday. According to the newspaper La Repubblica, full vaccination and a “green card” will be required to participate in public events, admission to trains, buses and perhaps indoors to cafes and restaurants. For citizens who will not comply with the new measures, a fine of up to 400 euros is expected to be imposed and for companies a five-day mandatory shutdown.
As for the secretary of the League, Matteo Salvini, no one has understood if and when he will be vaccinated. He had initially stated that his appointment was for mid-June. But now he has admitted that he has not been vaccinated and that he will do so “when it is his turn” in August. Salvini, however, is 48 years old and could have already completed the vaccination cycle. It remains to be seen if this is a pre-planned political game or simply because it does not have time due to overwork.
