Coronavirus cases have continued to rise in Italy over the past week, according to a new report from the Gimbe Scientific Foundation. More specifically, the new cases of covid-19 increased by 37.7%, hospital admissions by 14.8% and intensive care units by 9.4%.
The increase in cases is even clearer in the last three weeks: on October 15 the daily incidents were 2,456, while on November 9 they reached 5,870. During the same period, the percentage of positives on the total number of diagnostic tests performed increased from 3.6% to 9.9%.
The areas with the most cases remain those of the greater Trieste and Bolzano region in northeastern Italy. Finally, the Gimbe Foundation emphasizes that in areas of the country where there is a significant increase in coronavirus cases, “measures should be taken at the local level so that infections do not spread rapidly to all regions”.
