Italy – Coronavirus: Over 180,000 cases and 308 dead

In the last twenty-four hours, in Italy the number of coronavirus cases is 180,426 and 308 people have lost their lives. Compared to yesterday, but also to last Saturday, the cases are reduced.

In total, 1,217,830 diagnostic tests were performed, 14.8% of which were positive. 140,856 people have died since the beginning of the pandemic.

There are currently 1,677 patients with Covid 19 in the intensive care units of the country, while 18,370 are in the hospital wards.

At this stage, the coronavirus positive in Italy is 2,470,847. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 8,549,450 people have been infected with the virus and 140,856 have lost their lives. In total, 86.7% of the country’s population over the age of 12 has been vaccinated in two doses.

At the same time, more than 12,000 doctors and nurses have been infected with the disease, which is causing problems in several hospitals across the country. According to most scientists, however, Italy is very close to the point of maximum spread of the omicron variant, the so-called “peak”.

Today, citizens who had not made an appointment were able to come to all the vaccination centers. In the last week, according to official data, the administration of the first dose of vaccines to the inhabitants of the country over fifty years has tripled. The reason, of course, is the mandatory vaccination of this age group, which was decided by the Draghi government.

At the same time, as far as children are concerned, today their vaccinations were carried out in schools, as an additional facility for families. In the last week, however, the administration of protective preparations to students has doubled.

After two weeks of “absence”, also today, the anti-vaccinators and opponents of the “green vaccinated pass” demonstrated again in many cities of Italy.

In both Rome and Milan, they were allowed to demonstrate in squares, but not to march. Something that caused tension with the police forces, but without injuries.

The vaccinators and deniers in the Italian capital insisted that “the pandemic is already over” and that “they have the right to go to work, even if they have not been vaccinated”. The vast majority of the participants in these mobilizations did not wear a protective mask.
