The rape of a 55-year-old Ukrainian woman by a 27-year-old asylum seeker from Guinea has caused a sensation in Italy. The heinous act allegedly took place in the early hours of the morning Sunday, August 21 in the center of the city of Piacenza in the Emilia-Romagna region.
The shocking act was captured by a resident of the area with his mobile phone from his balcony, while the perpetrator was arrested by the Police during the rape as relayed by the ERT correspondent in Italy.
The video, mainly with the figures of the perpetrator and the victim covered, shows that Mr rape took place on a sidewalk, and the cries of despair of the 55-year-old woman can be heard. The video, which we remind you comes in the middle of an election campaign, has been posted and spread by some newspapers, which added it to their articles.
In fact, last night the leader of the Adelphia party in Italy, Georgia Melonitweeted a message with the video attached, citing the newspaper Il Messaggero as the img (in which newspaper, however, the article is currently listed as UNAVAILABLE).
Meloni’s post, before the video, begins with the message “caution, the video contains harsh images, not recommended for sensitive audiences». The post reads: “No one can remain silent in the face of this appalling episode of sexual violence against a Ukrainian woman, which was carried out during the day in Piacenza by an asylum seeker. A hug to this woman. I will do everything I can to restore safety to our cities.”
Reactions from the political world
The spread of the video through Meloni’s account caused acute reactions from the political world. Enrico Letta, leader of the Democratic Party, emphasized that the publication of the video by Meloni “it is indecent”.
On the same wavelength, the leader of the Center party Azione (Action), Carlo Calenda, said that the republishing is “unethical“, but also the former president of the Italian Lower House, Laura Boldrini, and the Mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella.
Georgie Meloni’s answer
Georgia Meloni’s response was not long in coming. “I don’t allow Enrico Leta to spread lies about me and make grim propaganda about the very serious rape in Piacenza” emphasized Meloni, who underlines that the victim is not identified in the video and that it comes from the website of an important national newspaper”, adding that “I am honestly ashamed of the political leaders who, while using rape to attack me, do not spend a single word of sympathy for the victim, apparently for fear of having to deal with the issue of worsening security emergency”.
