Italy has another 30 million euros to host 175,000 Ukrainian refugees

The cabinet of the Draghi government, which met this afternoon, approved the allocation of another 30 million euros for the accommodation – in total – of 175,000 Ukrainian refugees. To the 60,000 refugees already housed in the homes of friends and relatives, the Italian government will provide financial support for three months.

Part of the financial resources will be allocated directly to the refugees, while the rest of the money will support the efforts of municipalities, regions and voluntary organizations. The provision of benefits will be reconsidered, in case the guests manage to find a job.

At the same time, according to the Italian press, the Draghi government has decided to reduce taxes on all fuels, by 10 cents per liter, for a month.

Businesses will also be able to request a settlement of their energy bills in May and June, up to 24 installments.

In total, financial assistance will be provided to 5 million households in the country, to deal with the continuing increase in electricity and gas bills.

According to the newspaper La Repubblica, companies will be able to offer, this year, petrol coupons to their employees (worth up to two hundred euros) without this amount being included in the annual income of citizens.

Finally, in order to avoid unjustified increases in the range of products, a special state service for the monitoring of prices will be created, which will be able to impose a fine from 500 to 5,000 euros, on the companies that will not justify – in a convincing way – the upward trend. of their prices.
