Italy has new restaurants in the Michelin Guide, including three stars

THE Michelin Guide reached its 70th edition in Italy and revealed new starred restaurants on Tuesday night (5) during an event in the city of Modena, in Emilia-Romagna.

In total, 33 new restaurants received the first star. Another two were elevated to the two-star category and one rose to the maximum distinction of three stars. Regarding sustainability, 11 restaurants received the guide’s green star.

In numbers, the 70th edition of Michelin Guide in Italy brings together a total of 393 starred restaurants . There are 341 with one star, 38 with two stars and 14 with three stars. The edition also features 250 restaurants on the Bib Gourmand list, which highlights good cuisine with good value for money.

⁣New restaurant with three stars

Only one restaurant in the country has been elevated to three Michelin stars, the guide’s highest distinction. This is the Casa Perbellini 12 Apostoli in Verona, piloted by the chef Giancarlo Perbellini . The restaurant offers three tasting menus, one more creative, another more classic and a third vegetarian.

The first two cost €195 (around R$1,205), while the last costs €185 (R$1,140) per person. Pairings start at €100 (R$618).

The guide also highlights the restaurant’s wine list, with a wide selection of French labels. The place also preserves Roman ruins underground and offers a chef’s table, which allows for an intimate experience next to the kitchen.

Two stars and other highlights ⁣

The new edition also elevated two addresses to two Michelin stars. They are: the Villa Elena in Bergamo, and the Campo del Drago in Montalcino.

Villa Elena sits in the hills of Bergamo and features a panoramic terrace, a medieval tower and a 16th-century main building. The sumptuous interior is filled with mirrors, marble and frescoes. The person in charge of the kitchen is the chef Marco Galtarossa in collaboration with the chef Enrico Bartolini . A €190 (around R$1,176) menu is available, with an à la carte option with a minimum choice of three dishes.

Campo del Drago is located in the medieval village of Montalcino, in Tuscany, within the Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco hotel, which stands out in the selection of hotels in Italy, with three Michelin keys. Campo del Drago’s kitchen is run by Matteo Temperini which takes a look at Tuscan cuisine using vegetables from its own garden in three tasting menus (from €170, or R$1,113) or à la carte, with a minimum choice of three dishes.

Another 33 restaurants in the country of the boot have won a Michelin star. Among the highlights is the Achilli at the Parliament in Rome, very close to Palazzo Montecitorio; the Moebius Sperimentale and the Sine by Di Pinto both in Milan; the Vineria Modì in Taormina; and the Palais Royal Restaurant in Venice.
