THE Italian Minister of the Interior Matteo Piandendozziin his statements on the Italian public television of Rai, referred to the Meloni government’s strategy for the dealing with immigrants and refugees.
“The new closed immigration detention centers will be created mainly in border areas. We are working with France for border control and this area, near the city of Ventimiglia, is one of those that we are looking at with interest, for the creation of new structures, with the aim of limiting the whole phenomenon”, said the Italian minister, as reported the APE-MEP.
“There will be reactions, but we will engage in dialogue with everyone, while trying to impose the government’s line.” M. Piadendozzi asked the prefects to indicate in which region the new closed residence centers for immigrants who need to be repatriated can be created, considering that the government plans to create a center in each region of the country. “Our government was sworn in ten months ago and found a particularly complex situation in terms of immigration management. However, we are determined to move forward, aiming for permanent and stable solutions”, underlined Piandedozzi.
