Italy: New record increase for inflation, reached 11.9%

Inflation in Italy reached a new record increase in October, after reaching 11.9%, while on a monthly basis the increase is 3.5%.

According to the data of the Italian National Institute of Statistics Istat, this is the highest percentage in the last 38 years. Food, on an annual basis, increased by 13.1% and energy goods by 73.2%.

As shown by the Italian Consumer Association Codacons, for each Italian household, the increases will reach, in total, 3,655 euros.

Indicatively, for the food sector alone, the additional costs, for each family, are estimated at 752 euros.

According to the president of Codacons Carlo Rienzi “the precision will force the Italians to significantly limit their Christmas shopping as well, with huge negative consequences for the entire commercial sector”.
