Italy: New severe weather hits Sicily – Mayors ask residents to limit travel

A new wave of bad weather hit Lower Sicily Italy. Until late last night there were heavy rains, with floods all over the north-eastern side of the island. In the Barcelona Pozzo Di Goto and Milazzo areas, many road connections were disrupted, landslides occurred and single-storey houses were flooded.

Firefighters and Civil Protection teams helped residents out of homes and cars, while hospital access to many areas was problematic and delayed due to flooded roads.

Throughout the night, there were power outages in the wider area of ​​Messina due to it bad weather.
