It caused a sensation Italy the complaint her Spanish NGO Safeguard Defendersaccording to which they exist over 100 Chinese “police stations” abroadaimed at controlling, intimidating and – in some cases – forcibly repatriating Chinese dissidents living far from their homeland.

Based on this complaint, in Italy there are 11 centers of this kind, in cities such as Florence, Rome, Milan, Venice, but also in Sicily. According to the non-governmental organization, “officially, these departments are presented as offices for handling administrative and bureaucratic affairssuch as renewing or issuing driver’s licenses’, but actually ‘serve completely illegal purposes’.

The Italian minister, as the newspaper writes La Repubblicaadded that although at present no substantial evidence has emerged, “no license has been given for the operation of such “centers””. He emphasized that “the police forces in cooperation with the intelligence services”, but also himself personally, “they are monitoring the situation with utmost care”.
