Lega secretary Matteo Salvini, who decided to visit the Polish-Ukrainian border area where the refugees are arriving, was challenged by a local government official.
“I do not mean to welcome you, first to clearly condemn Putin,” the mayor of the Polish border town of Przemil told Salvini.
At the same time, the secretary of the League was challenged by a group of Italians who were at the city station.
“We are not interested in the wars of the Italian and Polish left. We are here to help those who are trying to leave the war behind,” Salvini said.
Many analysts in Italy in recent days have recalled that in the past, the leader of the League had praised the work and personality of Vladimir Putin, considering him a political reference point for Europe.
