Italy puts an end to quarantine for European tourists

The end of the mini quarantine Italy has announced on Friday (14/5) a five-day period that it has so far imposed on visitors from European Union countries.

The aim of lifting this measure is to recover the tourism sector of the country affected by the coronavirus.

«Health Minister Robert Speranza has signed an order requiring entry from the European Union, the Schengen area, Britain and Israel with a negative test, thus canceling the current mini-quarantine system.“, The ministry points out in a relevant announcement.

The measure will take effect on Sunday.

THE Italy relies heavily on foreign tourists for its economic recovery, as the tourism sector accounts for about 13% of its GDP.

In this context, the Minister of Health, as broadcast by the Athens News Agency, also announced that other airports in the country will begin to receive “Covid-free” flights from more countries.

Until now, this system of “Covid-free” flights, which provided for a negative test on departure and another on arrival, operated between the United States and the airports of Rome and Milan.

The system now extends to the airports of Venice and Naples and also covers Canada, Japan and the United Arab Emirates.

Restrictions on travelers from Brazil are maintained, according to the same source, with a ban on entry into Italian territory, except in specific and limited cases.
