According to the latest calculations, in the first quarter of 2022 the increases of gas and electricity in Italy will reach, respectively, 41.8% and 55%. The Draghi government tried to reduce price increases by allocating 3.8 billion euros.
Without this state intervention, the increase of natural gas would have reached 59.2% and of electricity 65%. According to the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, on average, every household in the country in 2022 will be forced to spend 994 euros more than this year.
At present, as an additional facility, the possibility of paying the due amounts in ten monthly installments is provided. Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, however, during the regular press conference for the annual report, stressed that his government intends to approve new financial support for unemployed citizens and lower-income households.
