THE Minister of Culture her Italy Gennaro Sangiuliano, said on Thursday (12/1) that he is ready to consider stopping the government grants in troupes and productions where they occurred sexual harassment at the expense of women.
“I consider the protection of women an absolute priority and to achieve this goal, I will mobilize in a very serious way”he emphasized to the cultural affairs committee of the Italian parliament and senate.
“I am willing to to consider the possibility of stopping any grant from our ministry, to companies and productions where harassment occurred“, added the head of the Italian Ministry of Culture.
Gennaro Sangiuliano underlined that “it is a matter of culture and education for all Italians”.
The positions of the Italian minister were presented after complaints from the Amleta associationto which the newspaper La Repubblica devoted a series of articles, on the subject of sexual harassment, abuse and extortion against women, in the field of theatre, television and cinema.
