THE Silvio Berlusconiformer prime minister and current leader of the Italian party Forza Italia, announced on Wednesday (10/8) that he will run for senator in the September 25 election.
Cavaliere also underlined that the party of the conservative alliance, which will receive more voteswill indicate to the president of the Republic Sergio Mattarella the name of the party’s candidate for prime minister.
“If that person will be Giorgia Meloni, of the Brothers of Italy, I am sure that she will prove to be suitable for this role,” said Silvio Berlusconi, as reported by the Athens Agency.
“I’m not interested in the centre-right leadership battle, I get more excited thinking about all the things we need to do, like fighting tax and judicial oppression,” added its former prime minister Italy speaking on Rai public radio.
Regarding, finally, the creation of a third, centrist pole, the president of the Azione party, Carlo Calenda, said this morning that, “as far as the main issues are concerned, the relevant agreement with the leader of the Live Italy party, Matteo Renzi , has already been achieved”.
