Italy summons Russian ambassador for explanations and rejects Moscow’s accusations against Italian media

The Italian Foreign Ministry today summoned the Russian ambassador to Rome, Sergei Razov, for explanations, and rejected Moscow’s allegations of biased coverage of the war in Ukraine by the Italian media.

In particular, the Secretary General of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ettore Sequi, rejected the allegations of the Russian government, which accused the Italian media of covering “in an immoral way” the developments in the war in Ukraine. He added that Moscow’s references to an “organized campaign by the Italian media against Russia” lack any basis. Already yesterday, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio had reacted strongly to the Russian accusations, recalling that Vladimir Putin has imposed total censorship in his country.

For his part, the Russian ambassador to Rome insisted that the Italian media had a hostile line to his country and called on the Draghi government to respect “the traditional line of moderation and balance, which has always characterized Italy’s foreign policy. “.
