The president of the Italian Council of State and former foreign minister has died at the age of 65, after a tough battle with cancer Franco Frattini. As Rai reported, he breathed his last on Saturday night at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome.
He had been Minister of Foreign Affairs (2002-2004 and 2008-2011) and Minister of Public Administration (1995-1996 and 2001-2002), while from 2004 to 2008 he was Commissioner for Justice during the Barroso presidency in the Commission.
Its former prime minister expressed his sadness over the loss of Franco Frattini via Instagram ItalySilvio Berlusconi, underlining that he served the citizens faithfully from whatever post he was assigned. “I will always remember his great ability to face complex problems with a smile, being comfortable in any role and the respect he had earned. I will miss him, as will those who were lucky enough to work with him.”Berlusconi said.
