Italy: The third dose of the vaccine is extended to young people aged 16 and 17

The third dose of the coronavirus vaccine will be extended to young people aged 16 and 17, as well as adolescents aged 12 to 15 who belong to vulnerable groups, the Italian Ministry of Health has decided.

At the same time, the Italian Medicines Agency is expected to decide, in January, whether the booster dose can be given to all adolescents aged 12 to 15 years.

Today, the number of new coronavirus cases in the country is 50,599, the highest number since the beginning of the pandemic. The deaths are 141 and in a total of 929,775 diagnostic tests, 5.4% tested positive.
