Italy: Video of the last minutes of a 40m superyacht that suddenly sinks into the sea

One has started to go viral on the internet video showing the last minutes of one super yacht about 40 meters long, which begins to it sinks slowly into the sea, after the steep slope it received, due to the inflow of water on its deck.

According to dailymail.co.uk the particular snapshot was released by the Italian Coast Guard and concerns the failed attempt to tow the ship, which took place off the coast of Southern Italy.

As the British publication reports, at dawn on Sunday (21/8) the super yacht “Saga” built in Monaco in 2007, was sailing from Gallipoli to Milazzo in Sicily when it sent a distress signal while crossing Southern Italy.

So the stern, it was starting to fill with water and immediately, it was approached by Italian Coast Guard vessels from the port of Croton. So his four passengers and one crew member immediately disembarked from the yacht, leaving behind four other crew members, including the captain, with the latter trying to save the yacht.

Then, a tug was sent to guide the “Saga” safely to port and while everything seemed to be going smoothly, disaster struck. According to the Italian authorities, the ship it leaned sharply to the right, because there was a greater inflow of water on the deck, than originally calculated.

The tug tried to continue its course, but stopped halfway as the yacht slowly began to sink, its stern in the air for a while, until it finally disappeared under the sea.

The crew and passengers of the “Saga” are in good health, but the Italian authorities are investigating the causes of the incident, as well as the measures to be taken to avoid any environmental contamination in the area.
