Research done in samples by the asteroid Bennu located near Earth revealed elements that are critical to the existence of life. Specifically, rocks and dust containing organic matter were identified, including amino acids and all five dna and RNA nucleoats, as well as salts. These findings offer new information on the chemistry of the early solar system and are presented in two studies published in the journals “Nature Astronomy” and “Nature”. In 2018, the Osiris-Rex mission reached the nearby asteroid Bennu to collect samples. This asteroid has long caught the interest of researchers because of its orbit near the Earth and its rich in carbon composition.
