“It’s an anti-war film”, says Kirsten Dunst about “Civil War”

Kirsten Dunst stated in an interview with the magazine Varietywhat “Civil war” It's an anti-war film.

The actress plays a dogged photojournalist making her way through a smoldering Washington D.C., trying to document the conflict between two armed factions tearing the United States apart.

The plot follows a group of journalists who travel the country in a dystopian future in which the country faces an intense conflict that involves the entire nation.

“It’s an anti-war film. Once you see it, you want to talk to people about it a little. And I think any film that does that is incredible,” he said.

“The entire film is open to interpretation. For me, there were things I had just accepted that were inexplicable. This allows the audience to express their own feelings about what they are watching,” she added.

Dunst also talked about the production making connections between the characters and current political figures.

“It seems fictional to me. I don't want to compare because that is the antithesis of the film. He's just a fascist president. But I didn't think Nick's character was a specific political figure. I just thought this is this president, in this world, who will not respect the Constitution and democracy.”

“Civil war” also stars Wagner Moura It is Cailee Spaeny . The direction is Alex Garland known for his work on “Ex_Machina: Artificial Instinct” (2014) and “Annihilation” (2018).

The film opens in Brazilian cinemas on April 18th.
