The statement comes weeks after the singer’s press office confirmed that Gil is preparing a tour that will mark his farewell from the stage after more than 60 years of career.

“It’s a slowdown in the pace of work that is very demanding, with very intensive and very long excursions, with a lot of distances to travel and a lot of flights to take. Anyway, I’ve now entered my 83rd year of life and this needs to slow down a little,” said the singer, who celebrated his birthday on the 26th.

To the delight of his fans, the singer confirmed that he still wants to eventually sing and meet the public in more relaxed situations. However, Gil reinforced that it is just a farewell to the big tours: “I am preparing this farewell to the big tours. I have been doing this extensive and intensive work for over 60 years. Now it is time to calm down a little more.”

When talking about longevity, the theme of the program, the Bahian states: “This generalized fear of the end of life is common to all of us, and I face it, like everyone else, with a certain fear, apprehension and questioning. Always taking into consideration that death is part of life.”
