J. Borel: The scale and seriousness of the violations by Russia require a strong international response

The scale and gravity of Russia’s violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law require a strong and united international response, EU High Representative Josep Borrell said in a written statement following the UN General Assembly resolution. United Nations on the suspension of Russia’s participation in the Human Rights Council.

The vote shows the international community’s clear determination to hold Russia accountable, Borrell said, adding that it was also a strong show of solidarity with the Ukrainian people and all other people affected by Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine.

“It is time for the Russian government to heed the voice of the UN General Assembly and the calls of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and of the people around the world to stop this war and to immediately end this senseless human suffering,” he said.

He condemned the attack on Kramatoskr

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has “unequivocally” condemned today’s attack on the Kramatorsk train station in eastern Ukraine, accusing Russia of denying it “causing human suffering”.

“I unequivocally condemn the indiscriminate attack this morning on a railway station in Kramatorsk by Russia, which killed dozens and injured many,” Borel said in a Twitter message.

“This is a new attempt to close the evacuation routes for those who leave to escape this unjustified war and cause human suffering,” he added.
