The importance of Egypt in the region was underlined by EU High Representative Josep Borrell in joint statements with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Sukri in Luxembourg.
“Without you, the region would be in a much worse position,” Borrell said, adding that food security was a key issue for which there must be a commitment.
The High Representative noted that the EU-Egypt Association Council will approve the priorities of the EU-Egypt partnership.
“We are focusing on building a sustainable economy, especially on the green and digital transition, on foreign affairs,” he said, adding that joint commitments on human rights and the rule of law would continue.
