“The EU must significantly increase its capacity to prevent wars,” Borrell said. “One of the lessons we need to learn from the invasion of Ukraine is that more than ever, Europe needs to think strategically about itself,” he added. He also said that for the first time since the end of World War II, a country that is even a nuclear power is invading another independent and free country.
Finally, Borrell stressed that the EU will not sacrifice human rights and the defense of freedom for Russian gas.
