EU High Representative Josep Borrell has described the incidents in the Transnistrian region as “detrimental to the security and stability of the Republic of Moldova”.
“The European Union calls on the authorities to refrain from destabilizing the country,” said Borrell, welcoming “the moderate reactions of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova, which are helping to maintain order in the country”.
It also expresses the EU ‘s solidarity with Moldova and underlines “its unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders and with a special regime for the Transnistrian region”. Finally, the High Representative notes that the EU is providing comprehensive assistance to Moldova to address the immediate challenges of the influx of refugees and has increased its support for enhancing the country’s overall resilience.
