Jack Dorsey’s first tweet is being resold on OpenSea for $48 million

A digital copy of the first-ever tweet from Jack Dorsey, the founder of the social network Twitter, is again up for sale on the OpenSea platform for $48 million.

Sina Estavi, CEO of Malaysian startup Bridge Oracle, announced on Twitter that he had put up for sale for 14,969 ETH a digital copy of Jack Dorsey’s first tweet dated March 21, 2006, which reads: “Just setting up my twttr.” In March last year, Estavi paid $2.9 million for it, but at current prices, the value of the lot has increased by almost 16 times and amounted to about $48 million.

Commenting on the upcoming sale, Estavi promised donate 50% of the proceeds from the sale of NFTs to GiveDirectly, a charity that helps the poor in Uganda and Kenya.

Dorsey’s position left Dorsey bewildered. Earlier, after the first NFT sale, the Twitter founder revealed that he supported GiveDirectly with all of the $2.9 million in proceeds from the sale. Dorsey tweeted, “Why not 99%?” and sent his message to the founder of Estavi, GiveDirectly and Tesla Inc, in particular, the new Twitter board member Elon Musk.

In response message Estavi said that despite his desire to use some of the funds to develop his Bridge Oracle project, if Dorsey personally asks him, he is ready to donate 100%.

Recall that in March, a digital version of the arrest warrant for Nelson Mandela was sold at auction for $130,550. The proceeds were planned to be donated to the Liliesleaf Farm anti-apartheid museum in South Africa.
