Jaguar is captured in garage of house in MG; look

A cougar was found, this Sunday (22), in the garage of a residence in the city of Varjão de Minas, around 385 kilometers from Belo Horizonte.

The feline was large and offered resistance to the approach of the military, according to the Fire Department. The team, with a volunteer veterinarian and Military Environmental Police, devised strategies to capture the animal.

Several capture attempts were made using suitable materials, and the animal managed to free itself and escape.

After around three hours of operation, the team managed to sedate and capture the animal, which, after being contained, was placed in a transport crate.

After capture, an assessment was carried out by a veterinarian and the feline was taken by the Military Environmental Police to the Wild Animal Screening and Rehabilitation Center in Patos de Minas.

It was an adult male animal of the species Puma concolor (cougar, puma and bay lion), weighing approximately 50 kg. He was weak with dehydration and needed veterinary care.

According to information from the Military Fire Department of Minas Geraisafter capture, the animals are evaluated and, depending on their conditions, they are released into environmental preservation areas.

These places are far from the urban perimeter and, if they are injured, veterinary care is provided.

Guidelines from the Fire Department emphasize that, if you find a wild fauna animal, do not try to capture or attack it.

This can cause the animal to react and attack in defense.

In this situation, the essential thing is to stay in a safe place, not lose sight of the animal and immediately call the Fire Department or the Environmental Military Police.
