Jaguar that devoured homemade in MS is taken to Instituto in SP

The jaguar captured 21 days after killing a homemade in the Pantanal was transferred this Thursday (15) to a wild fauna institute in the municipality of Amparo (SP). Previously, the animal was under veterinary care at the Campo Grande Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (CRAS).

“The first exams gave some changes that were acute, but that throughout the period was becoming stable. It is a carnivorous animal, so the basis of his feeding was meat, and we also gave some treatment supplements, medicine,” said veterinarian Aline Duarte, Ayty veterinary hospital manager and coordinator of CRAS.

The Ampara Animal Institute, where the jaguar was sent, already has eight ounces, five painted and three brown. The site houses wild animals that cannot be released because they have been victims of human interference or other actions that prevent them from returning to nature.

Veterinarian Jorge Salomão explains that the place has no visitation. “Our enclosures are all very large, with native forest grottos, surrounded. They are as close as possible than the animal would find in free life. We have rooms from a thousand square meters, up to the largest of almost 6,000 square meters,” explained Jorge.
