The Gaia hypothesis

The Gaia hypothesis, developed by Lovelock in 1979, considers that planet Earth is a living organism.

According to professors at the Federal University of Rio de Janeirothe theory considers that “our planet is capable of obtaining energy for its operation, while it regulates its climate and temperature, eliminates its debris and fights its own diseases, that is, like other living beings, an organism capable of self-regulation ”.

The name Gaia is a reference to a Greek goddess, considered Mother Earth.
