Jamie Dimon: Stop Talking About Bitcoin

JPMorgan Chase CEO James Dimon told CNBC at the Davos forum that Bitcoin “does nothing.”

“There are cryptocurrencies that do something, that can have value. And there is one that does nothing, I call it “home stone”. Bitcoin or something like that. […] I’m not trying to be funny, but there are uses for it: AML, fraud, money laundering, tax evasion,” Dimon said.

The JPMorgan CEO added that he would no longer mention this asset on air, and also asked the presenters to “stop talking” about the first cryptocurrency.

In addition, he said that he is ambivalent about how competitors are accepting Bitcoin.

“I don’t know what he would say about blockchain compared to currencies that do something and Bitcoin, which does nothing,” Dimon concluded, referring to BlackRock CEO Larry Fink.

Previously, James Dimon said that he would definitely block the cryptocurrency sector if he had the appropriate powers.
