First Lady Rosângela da Silva, known as Janja, traveled with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s entourage to Saudi Arabia, but decided not to stay in the country, heading straight to Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.
According to government sources, Janja preferred to arrive in Dubai early to organize details of President Lula’s participation agenda at COP28, the World Climate Conference.
Lula will participate in the summit, arriving in the country on Thursday (30) and staying until December 3 in the morning. He will give a speech showing Brazil’s position at the event and showing the country’s credentials to lead discussions on climate change.
During the event, the president is also expected to participate in dozens of meetings with other world leaders, UN representatives and civil society representatives.
According to Itamaraty sources, Lula is expected to participate in more than 10 high-level meetings each day during the COP.
