Japan: 230,000 residents evacuated after volcano erupts

Authorities in Japan have called for hundreds of thousands of people to evacuate their homes today as waves more than a meter high hit coastal areas, according to the state-run NHK network, following the eruption of a submarine volcano in Tonga that issued warnings. .
